You can quickly capture and download map screenshots in Local Insight to use in reports, presentations, or internal communications. This guide walks you through exactly how to do that.

Step 1: Load the data you want to include

Before taking a screenshot, make sure you’ve loaded the relevant data on the map. You can include indicators or custom areas.

Tip

Learn more about viewing indicators and custom areas on the Map.

Step 2: Click the Screenshot icon

Once your data is visible, click the camera icon located at the top-right of the map panel. This opens the screenshot tool.

Step 3: Configure your screenshot

You’ll see a few options:

  • Show legend: Toggle this on if you’d like the data legend to appear on your screenshot.

  • Zoom & pan: Adjust the map view using zoom or pan. Only the map visible within the screenshot frame will be captured.

Step 4: Capture and preview

Click Capture when ready. A preview of your screenshot will appear.

From here, you can:

  • Try again to adjust and retake the shot.

  • Download a PNG version to save the image.

  • Download a map report (Word) to get a Word document that includes more detail about the indicator shown.

Tip

The closer you zoom in, the more detail will appear. Make sure to frame your area of interest clearly.
